May 2023: Catechesis for All Learners

Presentation #2: Seeing through God’s Eyes in Ministry to Children with Differing Abilities with Sharon Urbaniak
This presentation will share ways to minister to children with special needs and their families utilizing an intergenerational program, God’s Family, which has won two awards. Learn about the format of the monthly program and the successful outcomes it has achieved. The key component is seeing each child, parent and sibling through our Lord’s loving eyes.

May 2023: New Methods for Catechesis Today

Presentation #1: Faith Formation in Blended/Virtual Learning Settings with Paul Sanfrancesco
Parish programs have the opportunity to evangelize not only those attending faith formation, but also their parents and families through a blended or virtual setting. In this different "environment", prayer, worship, message and community become as purposeful for the family as they are for the learner in a brick-and-mortar building. Discover ways to translate brick-and-mortar faith formation experiences to blended or virtual ones for children, teens, and the entire family.
  • Paul Sanfrancesco has worked in Catholic, private, and public education;  and college teaching at Saint Joseph's University and Neumann University.

Presentation #2: "Oh, the Possibilities” – Children’s Catechesis Today with Mariette Martineau
Oh, the Possibilities! As educators we are called to change how we teach to align with how students learn. Programs give us a starting place, and our imagination and creativity fill in the rest! The more tools we have, the more freedom we have to create a context and an experience that makes learning meaningful for both student and teacher. Tools within reach of all educators will be highlighted with the support of real life examples.
  • Mariette Martineau is the religious education and family life coordinator for the Kenora Catholic District School System in Kenora, ON.
