Evangelization Coordinator

Music Director/Organist/Choir Director
​St. Anthony of Padua, Rockford, IL

The Director of Music is a member of the Pastoral Staff and is directly responsible to the Pastor.  The Director assists the Pastor with overall efforts to ensure parishioners encounter Jesus Christ through prayer, the sacraments and worship.  The scope of this role is to discern, plan, prepare, and implement music opportunities for everyone in the parish. The Director of Music supports parish leadership in the planning, execution, and celebration of all parish liturgical music for sacramental celebrations. The Directors applies an appropriate balance of traditional and contemporary musical styles.  At all times the Director helps to animate the full, active, and conscious participation of the assembly in divine worship.  As a member of the Pastoral Staff, the Director is expected to take an active pastoral role in the parish.
Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate music for three weekend liturgies and all Holy Days and other sacramental celebrations of parish including (but not limited to) Christmas, Holy Week, First Holy Communion and Confirmation.  Plan, coordinate, and direct two parish choirs
  • Recruit, train, and schedule cantors.
  • Plan and provide music for weddings and funerals, of which the Director will have right of first refusal.
  • Maintain musical instruments.
The Director must be a person whose life does not conflict with the moral life and values of the Catholic Church and Her Teachings.

Youth Minister

We are seeking a full-time, youth minister to work with the faith formation team to provide programming from middle school through young adults, with an emphasis on development and growth for Grades 9-12 youth ministry. This collaborative position will assist with the implementation of the Confirmation program. This position will also work to develop a young adult ministry for the parish.

Youth Ministry Coordinator

Saint Pius X Catholic Church in Urbandale, Iowa, a community of 1800 households, a suburb of Des Moines, seeks a full time Coordinator of Youth Ministry. The successful candidate will be an active Catholic in good standing, possess a bachelor’s degree in religious studies, theology, youth ministry or a related field, be a well-organized, self-starting individual with good communication skills, able to use a variety of media. Working with a core team of adults, the Coordinator of Youth Ministry provides leadership, guidance, and support for the various discipleship-based processes in place at St. Pius X, including Edge (middle school, grades 7 & 8) SPY (St. Pius Youth, grades 9-12, utilizing Life Teen resources) and proximate preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation (Sophomore Year), all of which utilize mentoring and small group structures as a primary means of formation. This is a full-time position requiring regular office hours, evenings and weekends. The Coordinator reports directly to the Pastoral Associate for Life Long Faith Formation.
